About the Role

As a Machine Learning Intern at Netflix, you will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and infrastructure projects that power our personalization systems, content understanding, system optimization, and more. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in at least one of the following ML domains:
• Personalization & Recommender Systems – LLMs for recommendations, multi-modal recommenders, conversational systems.
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) – Large Language Models (LLMs), fine-tuning, embeddings, prompt engineering.
• Computer Vision (CV) – Image/video understanding and generation.
• Reinforcement Learning (RL) – Offline/online RL, human feedback-based learning.
• Reliable ML – Robustness, interpretability, causality.
• Multimodal Data – Integrating text, image, video, and audio.
• Model Optimization & Efficiency – Benchmarking, efficiency improvements.
• ML Platform & Infrastructure – Scalable ML model deployment.
• Computer Graphics – 3D modeling, neural rendering, animation.
• General ML Application Engineering – Applied ML solutions across domains.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, Scala, or C/C++.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras and training models on GPUs.
• Familiarity with end-to-end ML pipelines, including challenges in deployment, explainability, and scalability.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Presto).
• Familiarity with software engineering best practices (e.g., version control, testing, code reviews).
• Research publications in top conferences or journals (for research-focused roles).

Internship Details

• Duration: 12 weeks (Summer 2025)
• Start Dates: May or June 2025 (varies by school calendar)
• Location: Los Gatos, CA, or Los Angeles, CA (team-dependent)
• Compensation: $40–$110 per hour (based on experience and market factors)
