As a Data Scientist in this role, you will play a pivotal part in optimizing our software portfolio by analyzing historical and current usage data of Engineering & Technical Solutions Software. Your insights will drive informed business decisions, enhancing return on investment. Through data analysis, you'll generate comprehensive reports and visualizations that illuminate opportunities for improvement.
Your deliverables will encompass a variety of formats, including interactive dashboards, charts, graphs, and detailed reports. These will provide invaluable insights into specific aspects of software licensing, performance and vendor agreements, both existing and new.
By sharing your findings with software stewards, key stakeholders, development teams, product managers, and executives, you'll foster a data-driven culture that informs decision-making and drives continuous improvement in our application portfolio management.
Responsibilities:
- Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
- Creates process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to business stakeholders, project teams and/or Corporate IT.
- Serve as an integrator between business needs and technology solutions for usage data, behaviors and
- Work with business stakeholders and Corporate IT teams to complete reporting needs for the organization.
- Work with software stakeholders and project teams to prioritize collected requirements and usage data.
- Assists in conducting research on products to meet agreed upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts.
- Conducts interviews to gather business requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
- Translates conceptual business requirements into software functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to Corporate IT.
- Complete the full life cycle of requirements gathering, activities and design, and development of reporting.
- Regularly examine and qualify existing reports with business owners and stakeholders.
- Design and deliver all assigned production and operational reporting from respective business owners.
- Complete and improve data validations associated with all servicing practices to improve data consistency and process efficiencies.
- Participates in the QA of existing portfolio software solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized.
- Identifies and establishes scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.
- Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements — verbally or through written documentation — to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, business administration, finance, or information systems.
- Data Science background.
- 5+ years of technical experience or related industry experience.
- 2+ years of functional requirements gathering experience.
- 2+ years of PowerBI or other data reporting application experience.
- Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and manage tight deadlines.
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Experience with software vendor contracts research or software license tracking mechanisms.
- Knowledge or experience in contract administration and/or subcontract management.
- Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills, including planning, organizing and managing resources.
