The Global Digital Engagement Tech@Lilly team is globally focused and effectively building solutions / capabilities for Marketing, Corporate Affairs and Medical organization globally. The team owns all the consumer platforms, capabilities for the platforms and Tech@Lilly governance for consumer platforms.

Global Digital Engagement and Data is responsible for scaling technology innovation across affiliates at Eli Lilly & Company. You will primarily focus on the technology architecture of the public-facing presences of Eli Lilly & Company – including branded websites for pharmaceutical products, disease awareness campaigns, corporate communications portals, and other digital properties reaching our patients, their caregivers, and health care professionals. This position will report to the Tech@Lilly Sr. Director responsible for the website portfolio and also dive into broader across channels including Social Media, Search, Tagging, and Consumer Personalization. Additionally, this position will also provide technical direction and oversight to the Solution Engineering team based in India for all full-stack development needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Define, improve, and maintain development standards, workflow technologies, and continuous integration architecture to provide developers the tools and capabilities needed for large-scale software engineering with a focus on web marketing
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals and business partners to identify and document functional and non-functional requirements for new websites or web applications.
  • Develop and document high-level production specifications with attention to system integration, security and privacy controls, and feasibility.
  • Influence leadership and enterprise architecture through technical assessments, presentations, and oral and written communication.
  • Guide and mentor development teams to ensure consistency and technical excellence across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Work in Agile Sprints with business facing project teams
  • Learn business processes - including content approval workflows, and leverage data to support business functions and marketing objectives.
  • Partner with and influence engineering teams to drive solution delivery.
  • Conduct research and oversee pilot projects to explore new technologies, business processes, and enhancements that lead to better customer experiences, increased developer efficiency, and more robust operations.
  • Ensure custom developed software meets all requirements of quality, security, scalability, etc.
  • Leverage your expertise across the technology stack to assist with troubleshooting, edge cases, and escalations.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external technical teams to determine the viability of technologies and tools, and incorporate knowledge to assist with solution delivery efforts
  • Partner with vendor resources and external suppliers on solution development to ensure understanding of business objectives and technical direction for solutions
  • Stay abreast of tools and technologies to deliver the best solutions to business
  • Focus time on looking at future technologies / platforms

Your Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • 6+ years’ experience with cloud-based software engineering – including oversight of large-scale development efforts.
  • Significant experience with web-based software development
  • Familiar with online marketing, advertising, and web analytics.
  • Experience in applying quality and compliance requirements, especially in regulated software development.

What You Should Bring:

  • Web marketing, social media, and online promotion experience will be acknowledged
  • Contentful and Adobe product suite experience
  • Familiarity with technical architecture associated with databases and analytics environments.
  • AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes experience
  • Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and UI/UX design principles.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks, such as React or Vue.
  • Experience with Platform as a service (PaaS), web server management (ADOBE, AWS, Heroku, etc.), and web server frameworks (Express, Koa, etc.)
  • Self-management and ability to work autonomously and with ambiguity
  • Vendor resource project oversight
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation interest
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and investigative skills
  • Solid background in Information Technology with demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology and business process
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, teamwork and people development
  • Ability to communicate proactively and effectively with IT and business stakeholders

  • Travel Percentage: 0-10%
  • Hybrid schedule in Indianapolis
