Job Description

Establishes infrastructure and data pipelines by deploying Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) models via RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Develops software applications using Angular, NodeJS, Ag-grid, and TypeScript. Develops REST APIs using Spring frameworks, Spring Boot, and JAVA Programming Language (Java 1.8+). Builds and deploys data centric RESTful Java APIs to deliver innovative products and services. Develops complex architectural designs using application development tools – Amazon Web Services (AWS), Docker, and Azure DevOps. Migrates the existing suite of desktop applications across multiple technology stacks — Microsoft .NET / C#, WPF, SOAP, and REST APIs — to an Angular/Java tech stack. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participates in architecture design teams.

• Defines and implements application-level architecture.

• Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

• Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

• Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

• Advises senior management on technical strategy.

• Mentors junior team members.

• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) building scalable and high throughput Web applications in a full stack, Java-based software development environment. 

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) building scalable and high throughput Web applications in a full stack, Java-based software development environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing Java RESTful Web Services for multi-threaded applications in Tomcat, using Spring Boot frameworks; and performing performance tuning using PL/SQL.

• DE maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Cloud, AI/ML, and API applications using Jenkins; and managing nodes and clusters using Kubernetes platforms.

• DE developing and maintaining high volume, low latency financial trading and reporting applications, using back-end (Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, SOAP/REST Web Services, and Python) and front-end (Angular, JavaScript/Typescript, jQuery, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)) client-side technologies; and writing and debugging Oracle queries and stored procedures.

• DE designing and developing customer facing Web applications, using Java and J2EE server-side technologies (Spring, Struts, Servlets, Jakarta Server Pages (JSP), and JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL), Web security technologies (OAuth and Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML)), Apache Camel, and SOAP/RESTful Web services within a financial services environment.
