Job Description

Path finding, travel time estimation and a precise EV/fuel consumption prediction play a key role in various location-based services and navigation solutions offered by HERE. These include personalized route planning, fleet optimization, solutions to support EV transformation for transport & logistic industries.

The Routing team at HERE is responsible for building a comprehensive and performant routing solution for different transportation modes (pedestrian, bikes, scooters, cars / e-cars, multiple truck profiles) while providing a wide flexibility for customers in terms of personalization based on customer’s data or via route options.

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting experiments on real-world location data for travel time estimations / consumption and evaluating routing services against these estimations
  • Prototyping improvements for the Routing API experience by leveraging customer’s probes and other data sources
  • Building and scaling up robust data processing and machine learning pipelines
  • Analysing and evaluating traffic data feeds in terms of impact on route calculation
  • Support productization & delivery of proposed improvements in a close collaboration with development teams

Who are you?

Qualifications:

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor/Master’s in in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or similar technical degree
  • 5+ years of experience delivering projects with a clear understanding for the key aspects of the data science process, i.e., data preparation, data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical and mathematical analysis, as well as experience with algorithms and coding
  • Proficient in the Python programming language and experience with scikit, Pandas and Jupyter notebooks. Alternatively, proficiency in Matlab or R
  • Experience working with continuous integration tools like Jenkins or CI workflows in Gitlab or GitHub.
  • Experience of working in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure etc)
  • Experience with containers (Docker) and their orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Self-motivated, well-organized and a team player.
  • Very good in English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Knowledge in any of the following areas would be a plus:

  • Experience in data engineering/processing (pySpark, Dask, Ray or similar)
  • Experience in automating Machine Learning pipelines.
  • Knowledge of location-based services such as mapping, navigation, GPS
