Job Description

We are seeking a skilled AWS Database Migration Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in migrating licensed databases such as Oracle and MSSQL to open-source databases like Aurora PostgreSQL or MySQL on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration and a proven track record of executing at least 5 database migration projects.

What you will do?

• Design and implement database migration plans from licensed databases like Oracle and MSSQL to open-source databases like Aurora PostgreSQL or MySQL on AWS
• Analyze existing database architecture and recommend best practices for migration
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization, index tuning, and other activities
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including backup and recovery procedures
• Develop and maintain scripts and procedures for database automation and monitoring
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful completion of migration projects
• Document database migration processes and procedures

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in database administration
• Experience with AWS database migration tools and services such as AWS DMS and SCTStrong knowledge of database design, implementation, and maintenance
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
• Strong scripting skills, with experience in languages such as SQL, Python, and Bash
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

You will be preferred if:

• Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Familiarity with IAAC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation
• AWS Certified Database – Specialty
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
