Job Description

Summary of Duties:

  • Build, test, integrate, and maintain highly scalable data management systems using investment data sources.
  • Proactively identify and implement architectural improvements to Big Data processing pipelines.
  • Design and integrate enhanced feature inputs into predictive models that inform investment processes.
  • Evaluate the performance of suites of predictive models over time via comprehensive back-tests.
  • Perform detailed data analysis to understand root cause of anomalous model outputs.
  • Write complex queries in Python and SQL to ensure data is easily accessible and analytics work smoothly.
  • Set up unit tests and data verification checks for key ETLs and model input preprocessing logic.
  • Write cloud (e.g., AWS) native applications.
  • Set up robust, reusable model surveillance pipelines and visual dashboards to enable internal data science teams to monitor drift in signals over time.
  • Prepare written documentation and performance results to comply with risk review requirements.
  • Gather feedback from business partners and subject matter experts to inform data science product requirements.
  • Communicate findings to cross-functional internal audiences via presentations and visual analytic displays of quantitative information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation including two (2) years of experience in each of the following:
  • writing Python and SQL scripts to enable scalable data processing and model building;building cloud native applications.
  • collaborating on complex deliverables and communicating across data science, engineering, and investment teams.
  • leveraging data manipulation to feed into statistical models related to asset management.
  • and contributing to the design of machine learning pipelines from raw data sources to end-model outputs.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $149,900 – $157,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
