We are looking for multidisciplinary candidates to work on our AI product, Amelia, to drive improvements in quality, classification, information structure, and natural language understanding. Amelia is a cognitive virtual assistant who listens and interacts with people to solve problems. She reads natural language, understands context, applies logic, infers user intention, extracts information, learns through experience and senses emotions. Intent Recognition Managers have a wide variety of skill sets ranging from linguistics, library science, engineering, or data science. Responsibility

  • Intents/entities recognition strategy: a best practice approach for selecting, designing, and implementing an Amelia use case with the goal of achieving consistent high intent recognition.
  • Training/validation data: manage the processes used to generate, groom, and validate high quality, efficient utterances for new intent classes and improvements to existing ones; provide feedback to team members working on these efforts.
  • Intent modeling: ownership for methods used to design and optimize models and advise on how to make measurable improvements.
  • Machine learning: develop command of the platform’s ML and related applications. Tests technologies and communicates actively with R&D to proactively drive enhancements.
  • Product education: stay current on advances within the Amelia platform to disseminate intent education to team members and clients.
  • Intent/model benchmarking: Create and maintain validation datasets and track model statistics over time to prove performance gains and create improvement strategies.

Collaboration Methods

  • Advise engagements in your portfolio during the planning of new use cases and support them during implementation.
  • Work with pods to help optimize model data and structures.
  • Craft performance benchmarks to aid Cognitive Implementation with a universal system of measurement and means for identifying and tracking improvement.
  • Drive innovation for the processes we use to work on intents/entities and recommend/document any improvements.
  • Establish and document best practices to develop the capabilities of the pods and our client base.
  • Conduct training with new hires to drive efficient onboarding as well as continuing education coursework for team members as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently hiring for fluent English speakers and fluent Spanish speakers
  • Strong organizational, project management, and people management/training skills
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language and ability to troubleshoot language-based data or applied linguistics background.
  • Strong attention to detail along with a strategic perspective of the big picture
  • Experience with setting up studies to systematically experiment to solve problems with little direction or oversight.
  • Experience with or aptitude to learn about chat-based artificial intelligence systems and how intent recognition fits into these systems.
  • Comfort with statistics and interpreting statistical data to draw conclusions.
  • Bachelors degree; Masters degree preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of machine learning core concepts (accuracy, precision, recall, overfitting, underfitting)
  • Experience applying supervised machine learning techniques to real world problems.
  • Appreciation for user experience design implications of designing an intent model (user mental models)
  • Some experience in software delivery/implementation is an advantage.

Salary range: $65k - $80k
