Job Description

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is hiring a motivated AI/ML Algorithm Developer to support a research laboratory focused on the test, evaluation, and validation of RF spectrum warfare systems. This position may also require an interest in the modeling, simulation, and/or analysis of electronic warfare systems, radars (ground-based or airborne), missile & aircraft systems, or RF/EO/IR sensors.

The laboratory develops specialized electronic solutions to support test/evaluation functions. Responsibilities include working with the customer to develop/upgrade these test assets to meet mission requirements. The ideal candidate is expected to support all stages of the software engineering process including design, implementation, integration, test, and archiving. 

The position is located at WPAFB in Ohio, where most of the work will take place. Occasionally, travel will be required to support field tests and other facilities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Potential duties may include the following:

• Engage with customer to understand their needs and requirements.
• Participate in a team environment to plan future efforts, resolve issues, and manage maintenance tasks.
• Design, develop, documents, tests, and debugs software and systems.
• Perform system design efforts and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes incorporating a variety of engineering/scientific disciplines: software development, applied mathematics, data science, electrical engineering, embedded microcontroller/microprocessor programming, network/web services, ML/AI concepts, operating systems, pattern recognition, RF engineering, and visualization.
• Development of new or improved capabilities for existing test assets.

Minimum Qualifications

• 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field.
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a security clearance.
• Willing to work in Dayton or Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH.
• Proficient in common Python data science libraries:
• Matlab programming concepts.

Preferred Requirements

Substantial work experience in three or more of the following areas:

• Familiar with Docker or containerization
• System requirements analysis.
• System software design/development/integration/testing.
• Embedded software development using assembly, C, C++, or other languages.
• Embedded software development on systems with the following operating system environments: Linux, Unix, Windows, or other.
• Integration of 3rd party digitizer, processing, storage boards into embedded and computing platforms.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
