    Intact Insurance is a trailblazer in the insurance industry, relentlessly pushing the boundaries of technology to redefine insurance experiences. We are seeking an accomplished Vice President of Software Engineering to play a pivotal role in driving our technological evolution and ensuring our leadership in the insurance tech space.

    As the Vice President of Software Engineering - Digital Solutions, you will be a key driver of our digital initiatives, responsible for overseeing the development of cutting-edge solutions. We are looking for a strategic leader with a passion for digital innovation and a proven track record in delivering transformative software solutions.

    You will lead over 250 technologist which support over 18,000 employees, 25,000 brokers and over 3 million Canadians who engage with our platforms on a day-to-day basis.

    This position can be based out of either Toronto or Montreal.

    As one of our critical technology leaders, you will: 

    • Lead and inspire a high-performing software engineering teams focused on digital solutions.
    • Drive innovation in digital solutions, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions into overall business strategies.
    • Establish and enforce engineering best practices for digital projects.
    • Collaborate closely with C-level executives to integrate technology solutions into overarching business strategies.
    • Manage and optimize large budgets – continually assessing optimization and rationalization opportunities.
    • Build an engage healthy, collaborative, and inclusive team of highly skilled professionals.
    • Lead the evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the insurance industry.
    • Oversee large-scale, complex software development projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the software engineering team.
    • Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and partnerships to enhance our presence and influence.

    What you bring to the table

    • Extensive experience in senior leadership roles overseeing large software engineering teams within thriving technology landscape.
    • Proven success in driving technology initiatives, with a focus on digital solutions.
    • Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and excellent communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
    • Teamwork and collaboration - an inclusive, influential, and inspiring leadership style that allows to rally people around common goals.
    • Passion for automation and continuous integration & delivery of web and mobile software products
    • Well versed in architecture and agile development methodologies.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, recruit, engage and develop world-class technology team.
    • Experience managing large budgets
    • High degree of emotional intelligence & self-awareness – proven ability to lead through change, collaborating and building shared accountability and trust among large, diverse teams.
    • Bilingual (English/French) is a strong asset. Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
