    About the role

    Reporting to the Data & Analytics (D&A) Director, the incumbent oversees the Quality Assurance (QA), Testing Automation and Agility practices in a Data environment.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Define a QA framework specifically in a Data world (D&A) and a data testing automation strategy, mobilize QA Automation specialists to support the D&A team and engage with D&A managers to ensure superior quality of project deliveries in a data and an agile environment.
    • Develop and execute strategies to enhance software testing processes, practices, and capabilities. Act as a Positive Change Agent responsible for continuous improvement of new approaches and processes. Maintain a quality focus and proactively manage workflows and resources within team to ensure service standards and deadlines are met. Identify and execute improved Workflow Processes and Tools.
    • Develop and execute of a comprehensive Quality Assurance strategy including:
    • Functional / Integration / Regression testing strategy
    • Integration with CI/CD
    • Automation test strategy
    • Production Data Quality Observability
    • Actively participate in projects and committees; working to raise concerns and needs of management and influence decisions.
    • Build strategic relationships, liaising with the various departments: Business & IT.
    • Lead, assist and coach D&A team members on the agile practices related to roles and tasks. Provide guidance and direction and establish objectives to ensure resources are optimized and business goals (project vision) are met.
    • Be responsible for employee engagement level.
    • Act as the primary contact to coordinate all activities with an impact to the Quality Assurance team. Having a sense of urgency and adequately address priorities and escalations.
    • Capacity Planning: Ensure adequate resources are available to meet the project plan as it evolves; and complete continuous monthly monitoring and updating of the plan, escalating any resource issues to managers.
    • Participate and give approval for the release of major changes into production by determining whether the quality of the deliverable is acceptable taking into account the quantity of testing and the complexity of the case and issues. Consider the impact on internal and external users.
    • Approve the overall quality assurance of the testing, meet the acceptance criteria level that supports the implementation of deliverables. Lead, plan and conduct periodic reviews on compliance to standards and processes and follow up on resolution to non-compliances.

    Your Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Management, Information Systems or work experience in a related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of test automation management experience.
    • Minimum 5 years of Agile Coaching.
    • Prior experience with developing and implementing process improvements, particularly in the test automation and agility.
    • Prior experience in creating automated tests for data backend environment.
    • Prior experience and knowledge of system development.
    • Expertise with software life cycle management processes and tools.
    • Ability to challenge testing estimates and determine a test estimation process.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Insurance industry, an asset.
    • Agile coaching / Scrum Master / Agility certifications.
    • Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across multiple Canadian locations.
