Job Description

As a lead data engineer - machine learning, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting AI deployments at Progressive, working within two dynamic platform teams focused on public cloud and machine learning platforms. You’ll use your expertise in DevOps and data engineering in developing and deploying machine learning solutions, leveraging cloud services and resources, and ensuring the seamless operation of our AI-driven initiatives. You’ll be tasked with solving complex problems using data-focused software engineering and languages such as Python, and will be expected to research, learn, and implement new techniques as necessary. You’ll use your technical expertise and communication to help us build the future of AI deployment and enable Progressive Employees to build, deploy, and monitor their machine learning models.

This is a remote position.

Must-have qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Information Technology discipline or related field of study and minimum of five years of work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications
• In lieu of degree, minimum of six years related work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications may be accepted.

Preferred skills

• Proficiency in deploying, automating, and managing cloud-based production systems, with knowledge of cloud security and cost optimization.
• Comprehensive understanding of the data lifecycle, from initial ideation and ETL processes, through to the deployment of data products, ensuring efficient platform enablement and data consumption.
• Experience in deploying machine learning models in a cloud environment with a solid understanding of machine learning algorithms.
• High proficiency with Python as it relates to API development, scripting and automation, and data manipulation.
• Strong foundation in DevOps practices, system architecture, and software engineering principles, with experience in CI/CD tools, containerization technologies, and infrastructure as code tools.

Compensation

• $128,850 - $159,180/year
• Gainshare bonus up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
