Join AIR as a Research Associate with our Health team. Our Health team works collaboratively to unravel the intertwined challenges of health care quality, costs, and access. Our team of experts – nurses, physicians, psychologists, economists, sociologists, data scientists, and public health experts – advance evidence and save lives by leading rigorous research and evaluation; results-driven technical assistance and training; and leading-edge data science and technology tools.

Research Associates will support our research team in a broad range of activities including data analysis, program assessments, project evaluation and technical assistance tasks.Use your experience, knowledge, and education to help us deliver on our mission: to contribute to a better, more equitable world.

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Apply quantitative methods and techniques to manage and analyze research data.
  • Construct, clean, validate, analyze, and document large datasets for both internal and project-related use.
  • Provide operational and programmatic support, including design, measurement, and assessment support.
  • Manage administrative aspects of projects.
  • Support the preparation of technical procedures and reports.
  • Write, compile, and edit assigned portions of proposals and project reports.
  • Review work products to ensure quality and consistency of content.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Health, or related social science field required or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proposal or report preparation experience.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience and knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques using SAS, R, STATA, Access, Excel, and/or other databases.
  • Knowledge of SQL and Python preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with large datasets (e.g., healthcare claims) in SAS, or STATA preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, hospital/primary care payments, or quality measures preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Alternative Payment Models preferred but not required.

 Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work efficiently in a virtual work environment.

Disclosures:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated salary of $32.00/hr. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
