Job Description

Kemper is seeking to add a DevOps Engineer to our Enterprise Data Services team. This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of data warehouse and analytical environments to support financial, management and statutory reporting requirements along with enhancing and facilitating corporate decision-making capabilities.

Position Responsibilities:

• Define requirements for infrastructure initiatives, implement high availability/DR standards on cloud.
• Assess cloud server storage and infrastructure, capacity planning and management.
• Design load balancing and clustering solutions according to architecture standards on AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Prepare architectural design documentation, including diagrams and inventories both on-site/Cloud.
• Analyze emerging technologies and make recommendations for adaptation
• Continuous Automated Testing tools like Selenium, Bug tracking tools like JIRA.
• Log aggregation tools like Splunk, ELK, Datadog, New relic, Continuous monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk.​
• Encourages and facilitates the exchange of ideas between stake holders.
• Atlassian tool administration knowledge on JIRA, Confluence, Stash, Crucible.
• Interface with Customer and Internal stakeholders.
• Analyze existing standards to identify gaps and remedies, independently design and develop solutions to support reporting, analytic and warehouse needs using the appropriate platform, tools and programming languages on assorted system requests.
• Using independent judgment, analyze business requirements and work with client areas to produce specifications used in creation of the reporting and analytical solutions.
• Ensure newly designed systems run as needed, perform validity check on production output.
• Conduct performance tuning on new and existing systems to ensure optimal efficiency.

Position Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience developing DevOps CI/CD solutions preferably within the insurance industry.
• Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certifications in technical system design.
• Working experience using Informatica, Git and Jenkins.
• Strong knowledge of current relational database and big data software and query concepts.
• Advanced AWS skills and proficiency with AWS Market place and services. Prior experience with architecting complex AWS solutions.
• Experience supporting large scale Enterprise Data Warehouses Expertise with IICS, and Snowflake required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Certified on one of the following Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
• This position is a hybrid role and can work from home in the Jacksonville, FL, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Birmingham, AL or Alpharetta, GA areas. Expectation is work in the office when needed for meetings or team events. This position can be remote for a non-local candidate.
