Waymo’s Product Data Science team works cross-functionally with Engineering, Product and Operations to help the company make the most informed decisions using data. Our team collaborates on high-impact projects across the company — from driving quality and operational efficiency to market analysis and rider satisfaction scores — we help to safely and efficiently scale the Waymo Driver. We are data-driven, curious, open-minded, and adapt quickly to new information.

In this role you'll:

• Work with Product managers, Engineers and Data scientists to frame and measure marketplace inference problems
• Deeply understand the statistics underlying design and analysis of randomized experiments, including familiarity with interference issues in marketplaces and more recent academic and industry research
• Conduct various experiments to measure commercialization changes
• Define key metrics to track the health of our commercial product
• Present findings to key leadership to influence product roadmaps
• Analyze simulation, experimentation, and log data to provide actionable insights
• Own a domain and work with engineers, product managers, and program managers to make that area a success

At a minimum we’d like you to have:

• At least 6+ years of data science experience
• Direct experience with experimentation or causal inference in industry or academic settings
• Passion for solving unstructured and non-standard mathematical problems
• Expertise performing detailed statistical analysis and modeling
• Expertise using SQL to extract, clean, and transform data in large, complex, nested databases
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong intellectual curiosity
• Experience working cross-functionally with diverse business stakeholders

It’s preferred if you have:

• Experience with Python or R
• An advanced degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar field

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. 

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

$196,000—$244,000 USD
