About the Department

Group Technology and Operations (GTO) provides software and system development, information technology support services and banking operations.

We have centralized and standardized the technology components into Singapore, creating a global footprint which can be utilized for supporting our regional subsidiaries and the branches around the world. We operate and support 19 countries with this architecture to provide a secure and flexible banking infrastructure.

Our Operations divisions provide transactional customer services for our businesses while also focusing on cost efficiency through process improvements, automation and straight through processing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply statistical tools and models to derive key insights from risk related datasets and solve various business risk related problems.
  • Develop innovative solutions to improve and/ or automate key risk reporting. This includes building intuitive dashboards that help to visualize, analyze, monitor key risk/performance metrics to answer complex risk related problems.
  • Partner SMEs in identifying areas which require analytics support and include these use cases in development pipeline.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to customize and scale data analytic solutions across UOB subsidiaries.
  • Support the Head of Department in building and identifying enhancements to existing quality assurance and governance policies and processes.
  • Support special projects in response to internal and external (e.g. regulatory) request based on gaps identified for current analytics capabilities or models.

Job Requirements

  • Good university degree, preferably in computer science, engineering or analytical discipline, e.g. mathematics, statistics, IT, economics, finance, accounting. Master degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency across statistical toolsets (SQL, Python, R, SAS,), data visualization tools (Qliksense, Power BI) and Hadoop ecosystem. Knowledge in Python is an advantage.
  • Good to have - knowledge of a variety of predictive models, machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques, e.g. logistic regression, decision tree, clustering, neural networks, support vector machines, principal component analytics, natural language processing.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking or technology processes, banking products and the overall industry a strong plus.
  • 1-3 years working experience in data analytics or business intelligence units, preferably in financial industry.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written) to deliver insights to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Analytical mind with ability to translate the business problems and requirements into analytics solutions.
  • Capability to dive deep into data to find answers to yet unknown questions and have a natural desire to go beneath the surface of a problem.
  • Ask relevant questions and possess the skills to build algorithms necessary to find meaningful answers.
  • Self-motivated and driven, able to work independently and a good team player as part of a multidisciplinary team.
