Job Summary

NetApp is seeking a highly skilled Vice President of ONTAP Engineering. This highly visible leadership role will report into the Senior Vice President, Hybrid Cloud Platform Engineering and is responsible for ONTAP data platform engineering. You will be responsible for defining and driving ONTAP’s innovation agenda focused on delivering storage as a service at scale. Key capabilities of the data platform are intrinsic security, operational simplicity, AI driven autonomous behavior. This includes defining the software platform strategy and end to end technical implementations for all the variants of ONTAP® on-premise and in the cloud. As the head of this organization, you will utilize strong management, technical and architecture competencies to set objectives and develop product and organization strategies. You will work closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders across the business to identify and define the global directions for the products and services depending on your SW stack. You will help your teams be excellent and flawless in execution. Be relentless, have grit, be disciplined. You will help them move at cloud speed yet have the patience to build truly great things.

Job Requirements

Strategy: Contribute to NetApp’s strategy in partnership with product management. Decide and influence decisions on industry and operational issues surrounding technical investments.

Execution: Drive ONTAP data platform engineering execution roadmap. Deliver related to various technologies such as cluster management, cluster networking, Messaging (pub/sub), BSD and Linux drivers, ONTAP® autonomous infrastructure and so forth. Ensure ONTAP® and all its variants will share as much of a common infrastructure on-prem and in the cloud as makes sense. Build new capabilities to address data management needs at the edge and solidify NetApp’s status as the go-to data management solution across the entire enterprise data footprint.

Communication: Persuasive and clear articulation of NetApp’s vision, mission, value proposition and go-to-market strategy, including within the team, across peer groups, to executive staff, and with customers.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in leading engineering teams.
• Experience in building and leading complex, large, multi-disciplinary, distributed, diverse teams and driving revenue and market share growth.
• Modern systems, tools & cloud technology fluency, understanding of market trends, and a grounded understanding of where data lives and is created.
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, learning, and change in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Genuinely a servant leader. You have authentic leadership that arises not from exercise of power or self-interested actions but from a fundamental desire to first help, coach, mentor others and make them great.
