What you will do 

You’ll join the Data Visualization team of a global company based in Porto, carrying out international projects. As part of a wider Data & Analytics practice, you might collaborate with our Data Science and Data Engineering teams, or team-up with Strategy & Execution teams to deliver innovative use cases with a data-related component. The mission of the Data Visualization team is to enable stakeholders to make strategic data-driven decisions, by uncovering insights hidden in complex business data though the design and the implementation of interactive dashboards.

You’ll have direct contact with client’s senior management, from different business units like eCommerce, Marketing, Retail, CRM, Merchandising, Product, Operations, Finance. You’ll be involved in end-to-end Data Visualization projects: stakeholder interviews, business analysis, data analysis, design of a technical solution, implementation of back-end ETL, design and implementation of dashboard’s UX/UI, delivery and key user training. You’ll work with structured Agile methodologies and tools, coached and supervised by experienced Scrum masters.

As Data Visualization Principal, you’ll bring value to the team by:

• Building and maintaining trust-based relationships with client’s senior leads, from business and IT
• Leading the DV team (20-25 FTEs), by providing strategic guidance on core initiatives, and building a delegation structure of roles and responsibilities within the team
• Promoting the governance of the Data Visualization framework, by setting priorities and coordinating key initiatives together with client’s IT Leads
• Ensuring the delivery, by designing project roadmaps, planning staffing and coordinating resources
• Improving the scalability of the technical solutions, by anticipating conceptual dependencies and bottle necks, and suggesting strategic approaches to refine best practices.
• Coaching senior team members on leadership, solution-oriented mindset, and effective communication; and being a point of reference for the entire team.

What you’ll bring   

We look for experienced and self-starter professionals, with successful prior experience in leading Data Visualization teams. We believe that these elements are crucial to success in this position:

• Relevant and successful experience (8+ years) in leading a team (3+ years), showing strong people management attitude.
• STEM master’s degree
• Self-starter personality, result and solution-oriented attitude, consulting mindset, critical thinking, problem solving skills
• Successful experience in building and maintaining trust-based relationships with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to combine strategic vision with tactical priorities, properly prioritize short-term needs, and coordinate resources to get things done
• Confidence to suggest directions and make decisions, relate to other decision makers, communicate value to stakeholders, manage disagreement
• Relevant portfolio of successful data-related projects, in the role of Data Visualization Lead, People Manager, Project Manager, Product Owner, Tech Lead.
• Expertise of several industries and business functions. Fashion industry is a plus
• Solid experience with Data Visualization tools (Power BI, Qlik Sense, QlikView, Tableau, Looker, SAP Analytics Cloud) on both back-end and front-end
• Effective communication in English, written and oral. Portuguese is a plus
