Responsibilities

Draper’s Systems Engineering Directorate is seeking a Digital Engineering Solutions Architect to develop next generation Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering (DE) capabilities for domains such as: strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, hypersonic missiles, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles. Our multidisciplinary teams develop innovative solutions that support the full system lifecycle from trade studies, to concept and architecture design, to integration, and to testing and operation.

Draper has adopted an integrated, model-driven digital approach to solving Systems Engineering problems spanning the entire lifecycle. From early conceptual system design and architecture, detailed modeling, model-driven development, integration and testing, to deployment and performance monitoring, Draper has a rich suite of Digital Engineering solutions. For this role, we need candidates with broad interests in Model-based Engineering, and in the trinity of data architecture, advanced computing, and intelligent algorithms to develop digital capabilities such as Digital twins and digital threads for our projects. Our approach supports - the entire lifecycle, from “as-designed” through “as-deployed” - phases in supporting uncompromised quality of solutions.

Qualifications

The required qualifications for this job include:

• Bachelors or Masters in Engineering, Physics, or Science in a technically relevant field
• 2- 5 or more years of experience in MBSE, Digital Engineering
• Sound knowledge of formal Systems Engineering principles
• Experience in one or more tools such as MagicDraw, DOORs, MATLAB/Simulink, Python is required. Experience in integrating descriptive modeling tools with other simulation tools a plus.
• Knowledge and interest in interdisciplinary work spanning Systems Engineering, Model based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Trade Space Exploration (TSE), Machine Learning and Data Science
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility to multi-task and adapt to evolving priorities
• Ability to create and present senior level communications for internal and external customers.
• Work in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment including stakeholders and external partners. Contribute to translation of requirements into technical and architectural decision
• Some travel is needed

Responsibilities include:

• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Support development of DE solutions to address customer needs
• Become knowledgeable in various problem domains, identify relevant modeling and analysis techniques, develop or integrate multi-domain qualitative models and present results that support system-level analysis, performance trade-offs, and decision-making.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively with customers, engineers, managers, and other stakeholders of all relevant disciplines is a must. 
• Flexibility to multi-task and adapt to evolving priorities will be required.
