Job Description

What You Will Do

The Data Engineer’s role is to design, build and maintain scalable, robust and performant data pipelines and related systems that meet technical and functional requirements. Data engineering work takes place fully in GCP with pre-ingested data coming from our applications. You will:

  • Design, implement and optimise Advanced Technology’s data schemas, robotics data models and reporting tables
  • Collaborate with platform teams to select data storage, ingestion, and digestion technologies to meet consumption and ingestion patterns
  • Proactively design data unit tests to ensure quality and gain visibility into potential anomalies 
  • Monitor data objects and provide operational support 
  • Promoting best practices in data engineering (i.e naming conventions, pipeline design standards, DBT model best practices)
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments including conferences, launch of new technologies and new patterns in data engineering.

  • You have a strong grounding in SQL, BigQuery and Python
  • You have strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • You are commercially minded and are able to put data into context
  • You are a team player, with experience fostering a culture that is innovative, motivational and highly productive.
  • You are proactive, identifying issues and opportunities before having to be told to do so

This would make you stand out from the crowd:

  • Strong experience in analytics, particularly in a lead role
  • You have a wealth of experience using GCP for data engineering
  • Experience with the modern data stack, including tools such as dbt, Looker, Data Studio.

Physical Activities: 

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for a prolonged period. 
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.

This position is based at the Toronto, Ontario Canada.
