Job Description

What Will You Do:

• Be the hands-on technical lead and architect in a small team of software engineers who own, build and run a suite of applications built on modern cloud technologies (streaming, data science, analytics, generative AI)
• Identify and introduce new services, products, or applications that help us to simplify our operations, reduce technical lead, or eliminate manual efforts & toil
• Evaluate products and technologies in the industry that can be applied to optimize Coupa’s internal processes and workflows
• Develop and drive long-term strategies and roadmaps aligning with business priorities in partnership with the Product Management team
• Collaborate with teams within Coupa to learn about opportunities to increase efficiency through automation, self-service, or simplification
• Use instrumentation, data and analytics to inform and drive new feature development
• Work with a global team, creating solutions that will be used by customers around the world at massive scale

What Skills Are Useful:

• Has 6+ years of hands-on experience programming using Ruby, Java, Python, Go, C/C++, Rust or equivalent
• Has 2+ years of experience in a lead engineering role, working with a diverse & distributed team located across the globe
• Have experience building & running modern full-stack cloud applications using public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Takes full ownership of products and has a track record of sustainably delivering high quality features & managing technical debt
• Has effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated problems to all levels of the organization & customers
• Has experience with adaptive/iterative delivery practices including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean
• Will be confident in their ability to own and deliver a roadmap tied to business priorities
• Has a passion for excellence, is a natural problem solver, and a critical thinker. You should enjoy digging deep to understand issues and like solving hard problems
• Wants to work in a collaborative and supportive work environment
• Has a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent with 8+ years professional experience

It would also be great (but not essential) for you to have:

• Certifications from major cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, ECS) or infrastructure configuration management systems (Chef, Ansible, Terraform)
• Experience running Cloud Platforms in a SaaS environment
