Coupa Software, Inc. seeks Data Scientist in San Mateo, CA.

Duties: Design, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions using statistical, optimization, simulation, and data mining methods with a focus on delivering actionable business value. Apply various data science methods to understanding the most important aspects of our product, users, and business. Translate functional, technical, and business requirements into architectural designs. Write queries that profile, clean, extract, transform, and merge a variety of data to be used in models that assist in decision making. Conduct data analysis and feature engineering to both inform the development of statistical or optimization models and generate improved model performance and flexibility. Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy. Create robust documentation of solutions and underlying design decisions and operating procedures. Support marketing/sales efforts by writing technical white papers, blogs, and point-of-view documents, and provide technical expertise. On tactical solutions help with integrating modeling solutions with Coupas product portfolio. Telecommuting permitted.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or Machine Learning plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or related roles.

Requires 2 years of experience in the following skills:

-Software design and development using general purpose programming language including Python, R, Java or C#;

-Working with database systems including SQL Server, PostgreSQL,AND MySQL;

Requires 1 year of experience in the following skills:

-Machine learning, statistical and probability analysis, predictive modeling, hypothesis testing and associated software libraries and tools; and

-Building data pipelines, business intelligence data models, data engineering and feature engineering.

-Analytics solution design and build;

-Applying analytics to solve business issues;

-Knowledge of business operational, process, delivery, and supply chain models;

-Leveraging self-service analytics platforms;

-Understanding the benefits and challenges of using data visualization;

-Knowing and applying best practices and techniques when creating analyses; and

-Ability to share results through self-service dashboards or applications.

Requires 6 months of experience:

- Project and team management.
