What you need to know about the role:

The Global Financial Crimes & Customer Protection (GFCCP) organization is responsible for detecting and preventing financial crimes and providing protections and remediation paths for PayPal’s customers. GFCCP must run efficient and effective programs across the board which require data-driven insights to drive world-class back-office strategies, processes, policies and/or systems and tools and is now looking to hire a Machine Learning Engineer to be a part of its engineering team supporting key strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Write clean, high-performance, high-quality, maintainable code
  • Discovering, analyzing, structuring and mining data
  • Be a key engineer contributing to the design, development of the new functionalities and maintaining the existing components
  • Work with data scientists and data engineers to implement scalable AI solutions to solve complex problems.
  • Maintain and enhance the existing architectural documentations and create the new one as needed
  • Be highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in matrixed organizations
  • Highly analytical, innovative, and able to think strategically and to develop comprehensive detailed specifications

Qualifications and skills:

  • B.S. in computer science or similar degree with 6+ years of experience or equivalent
  • Experience working with large databases; good SQL skills
  • Strong skills in Python
  • Knowledge of ML application pipelines
  • Exposure to Agile methodology
  • Experience with Big Data Platform and frameworks (Hadoop, Hive, Spark etc.)
  • Experience on data mining, feature engineering, and distributed data processing
  • Experience on front end/web development technology is a plus
  • Experience with one or more Container-ecosystem (Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Google Cloud, AWS, etc.) is a plus
  • Server-side development with Java is a plus
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Highly motivated, goal driven, can-do attitude
  • Team player with an innovative, entrepreneurial mindset and ability to multi-task.
