Role at a Glance 

Gecko Robotics is an engineering led culture that keeps engineers close to the hard problems our customers need solved. We are looking for a backend engineer to join our mission-critical Data Systems team. The Data Systems team builds pipelines that translate raw data from our robots into insights utilized by both software and humans. In this role you will use tools like Python, Airflow, and various cloud services to support data collection and analysis every time Gecko's robots are deployed in the field. Looking forward, you will work on projects such as processing new data from our latest robotic advancements, as well as integrating pipelines for new 3rd party robotic data for the first time. 

What you will do

As a Software Engineer, you will work on a highly collaborative team to design, code, and ship the features that unlock insights and value from the huge volumes of data collected by Gecko robots everyday. Your work will bridge multiple data layers to determine infrastructure reliability worldwide through our transformative Cantilever software, which directly impacts critical maintenance and repair decision making. The software team works collaboratively with other members to build features that make it easy to transform and use data across the organization, as well as better serve the needs of our customers. You will work cross functionally with our Forward Deployed Engineering team to enable data-driven decision making and clean reporting, build new aspects and improve the structure of our existing data, and create the foundation that future software tools will be built upon.

Technologies We Use

We use a variety of technologies, but we primarily operate using Python, React, and Typescript with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as our cloud provider. This is a non-exhaustive list and we are tech agnostic in our interview process, so we encourage you to apply regardless of your background.

About You

• Experience designing secure data APIs that make it easy to create, secure, and retrieve data and build applications
• Real world expertise building, maintaining, and replacing data infrastructure in production environments
• Desire to have a high impact at a fast-moving startup as a key contributor on a new project in a fast-growing team
• Excitement to learn and grow with openness to new ideas, new technologies, strong DevOps practices, and continuous feedback
• Excellent communication skills
• High self-motivation and love of self-directed learning
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field (or equivalent experience)
