About the Role

As a Product Manager at AssemblyAI, you will take part in helping shape the product vision and roadmap, while leveraging customer feedback and AI market opportunity to drive our success.Your deep understanding of customer needs, combined with your collaborative approach, will enable you to work seamlessly with design and engineering teams to build the right product, and work with go-to-market teams to get our products into the hands of our customers. You’ll work with your engineering and GTM counterparts to effectively communicate the direction and status of your product area to the rest of the organization. You’ll be actively researching the AI market, ensuring we stay on top of the latest and remain ahead of our competition both in product quality and ease of use for developers. At AssemblyAI, product managers are highly flexible, technically-minded, and will adjust to whatever is needed to deliver great products to our customers.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a founding member of the product function at AssemblyAI
  • Understand our customers by talking with customers regularly, interacting with go-to-market teams, and digging into product data. Help the rest of the organization understand our customers as well.
  • Help set the direction of AssemblyAI’s product lines
  • Leading the scoping, prioritization, and delivery of new product initiatives that align with the company’s goals and roadmap 
  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure technical feasibility and timely delivery of new products 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and customer success to ensure successful product launches and customer satisfaction 
  • Own the product roadmap and strategy, and continuously identity and prioritize opportunities for growth and improvement 
  • Develop effective product briefs that help us build the right products
  • Identify new opportunities and product areas for AssemblyAI to pursue
  • Measure, analyze and report to the organization on the success of our products
  • Help build the foundations for a high-performing Product team at AssemblyAI
  • Be an advocate for the user and use data and analytics to drive decisions and improvements 

What You'll Need

  • Technical undergraduate degree (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering) 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and experience
  • You don’t need to be an engineer, but you need to speak the language of caching layers, databases, and pull requests
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and execute multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Knowledge and experience of user research methodologies and comfortable in front of customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly and concisely 
  • Ownership mentality and an entrepreneurial spirit 
  • Ability to context-switch and manage ambiguity 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset

Nice to have

  • 4+ years as a Product Manager, with a track record of launching successful products 
  • Previous experience building products for developers
  • Experience owning end-to-end product development, from ideation to launch 
  • Familiarity with SQL, Javascript, and APIs.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size, stage and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide.

There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.

Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.

Salary range: $160,000-$200,000
