Job Description

We are seeking a talented team lead to help develop and deliver the next generation of advanced visualization tools and applications in support of Motional's autonomous vehicle development and operations. At Motional, vast amounts of complex data is constantly being generated. Teams at Motional require highly performant, reliable visualization tooling in order to efficiently bring that data to bear in building industry-leading autonomous vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a technical team of Engineers to build processes, software, and infrastructure that scales to support the company’s overall goals – from ideation, execution, to operations
• Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of our data visualization applications
• Provide technical leadership to make significant decisions on architectural direction, strategic investments, tactical execution, and technical debt reduction
• Design, implement, and review algorithms, code, and infrastructure
• Be a mentor and a resource person to provide both technical and professional feedback to the team
• Work closely with users, leadership and stakeholders (product, engineering, program, and operations) to align and coordinate product design, project execution, and operational usage in setting and achieving objectives and key results

Desired education and experience

• 2+ years experience as a technical lead
• 8+ years professional experience as a software engineer or 5+ years professional experience with a BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
• Excellent coding skills: able to write idiomatic, maintainable code; and instill high quality engineering standards on the team
• Experience developing single-page web applications
• Experience in Test Driven Development and writing testable code
• Good knowledge of a particular development ecosystem, such as developing modules, publishing packages, and using various dev tools (linting, code analysis)
• Ability to document technical designs and specifications
• Ability to articulate ideas to a non-technical audience

• Experience with ReactJS
• Experience with AWS cloud services
• Experience with Infrastructure Monitoring
• Experience working in cross-functional development teams
• Experience troubleshooting and tuning systems and networking issues.
