We are currently seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Manager, Battery Software. This position requires a seasoned engineering manager with a strong embedded controls software development background. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and leads their team with vision and compassion. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn and adapt quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Lead and grow a world-class team of embedded software engineers to develop a wide range of battery products
  • Contribute to our world-acclaimed Battery Management System (BMS) for mass-market passenger vehicles, electrified motorsports, and stationary energy storage systems
  • Manage both model-based and hand-coded software development lifecycle for our BMS
  • Lead design and implementation of mission and safety-critical software features
  • Integrate RTOS features developed and configured by Platform Software team
  • Coordinate verification and validation activities for software features
  • Ensure close alignment and co-development cadence with battery algorithms development and test engineers to deliver quality production-ready software at pace
  • Provide key insights and design directions to cloud-based battery management solutions
  • Foster effective collaboration with BMS stakeholders: electrical, mechanical, system, controls, platform, and data teams, to attain excellence in system reliability, performance, and user experience
  • Motivate the team and lead by example

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of demonstrated experience in leading the development and shipping of mission and safety-critical embedded software for mass market products, in the fields of automotive, aerospace, robotics, medical devices, consumer electronics, etc. 
  • Track record of leading, motivating, and growing engineering teams
  • Outstanding ability to communicate with cross-functional teams about product requirements, system architecture, and project timeline
  • Deep insights and commitment to building high quality, robust, and resource-efficient software
  • Expert knowledge of operating systems concepts and hardware peripherals
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and debugging embedded systems
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience with best practices and standards in safety-critical software development environment

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of electric vehicle BMS
  • Working knowledge of AUTOSAR
  • Familiarity with battery controls and estimation algorithms
  • Familiarity with ISO26262 and ASPICE standards

Education Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

$150,000 - $214,500 a year

The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Additional Compensation and Benefits:

The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
