We are currently seeking a Manager, Battery Algorithms. This position requires an experienced engineering manager or technical lead with a strong research background in battery control and estimation algorithms, combined with a passion for developing mass-market software products. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and leads their team with vision and compassion. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn and adapt quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

The Role

  • Lead and grow a world-class team of battery algorithms and controls engineers to research, develop, and deploy state of the art battery algorithms and models for a wide range of electric mobility and energy storage applications
  • Contribute to our world-acclaimed battery solutions for mass-market passenger vehicles, electrified motorsports, and stationary energy storage systems
  • Manage model-based software development lifecycle for battery algorithm software components of our embedded Battery Management System (BMS), within a diverse Battery Software team
  • Oversee and facilitate cross-functional R&D of practical solutions to battery online and offline electrical and thermal models, State of Charge/Energy/Power/Health estimation, charging and thermal controls
  • Lead design and implementation of high-performance battery algorithms on embedded processors
  • Provide key insights and design directions to cloud-based battery management solutions
  • Ensure close alignment and co-development cadence with other battery software developers and test engineers to deliver quality production-ready software at pace
  • Motivate effective collaboration with battery algorithms stakeholders: battery cell, battery system, vehicle modeling, controls, infotainment, and data science teams, to attain excellence in system efficiency, performance, and user experience
  • Motivate and always support the team

Qualifications

  • 5 years of excellent track record in developing and shipping battery algorithms for mass market commercial products
  • Outstanding research capacity and passion for technical leadership
  • Deep insights and commitment to building high quality, efficient software
  • Expertise in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Advantageous:
  • Extensive experience in modeling and testing Lithium-ion batteries
  • Working knowledge of RTOS or AUTOSAR
  • Familiarity with ISO26262 or ASPICE standards
  • Education Requirements:
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering, PhD preferred
