Job Description

Untether AI is building the world’s highest performance, energy-centric AI inference accelerator. We’re a rapidly growing Toronto-based startup, with employees across Canada and the US (and even a few outside North America).

To help grow our organization, we are looking for an experienced SOC Design Lead to drive the design and implementation of our ML Accelerator roadmap. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with strong opinions about how to assemble chips “the right way” and who can execute on near term projects while also helping to build the strategy and team for the long term. 

The successful candidate will manage the following responsibilities:

• Own the SOC design. Build the chip and tape it out.
• Bring deep knowledge and experience in SOC design methodologies.
• Architect and implement cross-functional features like clocks, resets, interfaces, global busses, and other types of critical product features.
• Set standards for proper design methodologies, and evangelize them with the IP teams.
• Collaborate with Digital and Mixed Signal IP teams, Packaging and PCB, and Software.
• Work with Product and Marketing teams to define the roadmap and ensure our SOC design methodology supports it.

This might be the right opportunity for you if you have the following:

• Prior experience as an SOC designer on any type of large chips.
• Knowledge and experience with automation of full-chip integration, clocks, resets, interfaces, pad ring, I/Os.
• Possesses strong opinions on proper SOC design methods including automation, coding style standards, and common libraries.
• Ability to collaboratively build consensus on design methods across large teams
• Proficiency in SystemVerilog, scripting languages, common commercial and open source CAD tools.
• A deep understanding of common digital design pitfalls and how to avoid them. 
• Self-starter with excellent communication skills.
