CALLING ALL UNDERGRADUATE INTERNS!!!!

As a Consumer Reports intern, you’ll stand with us as we stand alongside consumers. You’ll work with us as we empower consumers with the knowledge they need to make free, informed, confident choices in the face of a complex marketplace. It’s important work and it’s been our thing for more than 80 years.

You’ll work with the Financial Fairness team to advance the vision of a Fair Digital Financial Marketplace in which digital financial products let consumers spend, save, borrow, and invest safely; respect their privacy and data; provide the benefits they expect; and protect them from discriminatory and predatory practices; all while helping them achieve their financial goals.

CR Internships are available to current full-time law and master degree students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. We offer a 12 week paid internship program that runs between June and August of 2023, with some flexibility to accommodate summer school schedules.

THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR SPONSORSHIP

Under our CRFlex program, this is a hybrid position and is eligible for remote work up to 75%. The successful candidate must reside within 75 miles of our Washigton DC office location.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Our interns work with our amazing staff to fight for a fairer, safer, more just marketplace for consumers nationwide. You’ll dive into some of the most crucial policy questions of the day, from sustainability, self-driving cars, and student debt to credit scoring, data privacy, and broadband access. Spend your summer developing skills that will serve your career goals while engaging in work that promotes evidence-based public policy.

As a CR intern you will:

  • Research key technologies driving digital finance product and service evolution to solve for key issues such as identity verification, online security, privacy and data management, and accessibility and inclusion
  • Evolve CR’s Fair Digital Finance Framework by developing a module to evaluate cryptocurrency exchanges/wallets
  • Landscape and track regulatory and legislative efforts related to cryptocurrency
  • Continually update scoping documents for the digital financial landscape to identify key consumer issues and challenges; and landscaping of events/conferences, influencer's, community groups, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a Digital Finance trainings and conferences log
  • Support the operation of the Financial Fairness team through CRM and file structure development and maintenance

FAIR PAY & A JUST WORKPLACE

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $20hr to $24hr. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
