Job Description

Synaptics’ CAD Infrastructure team is looking for a Staff Engineer with a solid software background who can contribute to our SOC design efficiencies by partnering with our semiconductor chip design teams and working closely with EDA vendors.

The typical base pay range for this position is USD $119,000- $187,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or benefits.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

• Provide support to design teams in using design environments and tools.
• Apply knowledge of jobs queueing system using IBM LSF to create efficiency in using EDA tools licenses.
• Understand requirements from the design community to support infrastructure.
• Participate in License Management of EDA tools.
• Develop License Analytics flows to report on license usage and to facilitate the handling of license requests.
• Working collaboratively to develop, support, debug both in-house and commercial EDA tools and flows.
• Support Data Management tool and flows using Cliosoft SOS version-control software.
• Work closely with design, layout, verification, modeling, process teams and EDA vendors to incorporate new capabilities of their commercial tools, and to resolve issues.
• Responsible for diagnosis, resolution, regression of reported problems.
• Provide training, documentation and support to Design Community.
• You will also be working on developing solutions for the future that involve using ML and AI.

Qualifications

Successful candidates for this position will have:

• BSEE/CS plus 8+ years or MSEE/CS plus 6+ years of working experience as CAD engineer in the semiconductor industry or equivalent.
• Strong programming skills with Perl, Python, Javascript, and MySQL with experience in creating WEB Interface for Data Analytics. Knowledge of C and C++ is also good.
• Strong knowledge of Linux environment.
• Strong background with administering and using MySQL.
• Experience with managing EDA tools licenses.
• Experience with downloading and deploying EDA tools in multi-site environment.
• Knowledge of design tools from Cadence/Synopsys/Mentor and design kits is a plus.
• Experience with Data Management tools. Primarily SOS and Git, SVN is a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment; cross-site and cross-time zones.
