RightHand Robotics (RHR) is building a world-class team to solve the biggest problem in ecommerce logistics: how to fulfill orders, despite demand that’s growing at six times the rate of available labor. We have a rapidly growing and highly capable engineering team building robotic piece-picking solutions and deploying them around the globe. Our product has to be reliable enough to run non-stop on fleets of robots in the world’s largest warehouses. We are looking for an experienced software engineer to help develop and maintain the software infrastructure that our product is built upon. This individual will work closely with other software engineers to ensure the development team is able to leverage the most up-to-date tools, technologies, and languages.

You will:

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain key infrastructure components
• Maintain and upgrade our (Ubuntu/Linux) operating system
• Maintain and upgrade programming environments (e.g. python)
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to deploy solutions to address customer needs
• Debug complex, real-time, multi-process systems

You have:

• A minimum of 5 years experience in Systems and Infrastructure Engineering
• Residence in the Greater Boston area and are within commuting distance of our Somerville HQ

You possess experience with the following technologies: 

• Linux native (pref. Ubuntu/Debian)
• Customizing build and deployment
• process control
• systemd
• securing/hardening
• Deep Scripting/automation experience
• Python
• Shell mastery (POSIX and BASH)
• Software build and development
• Linux Package building (pref. deb)
• specifically building from source
• build toolchain knowledge
• Software release experience (git and pipelines)
• OCI Build and deployment
• containerization technology primarily Docker/Podman
• Hardware experience
• Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers

Bonus skills:

• GCP Cloud Experience
• API knowledge
• Python packaging/distribution experience
• Packaging (pip, wheels, etc…)
• Distribution
• Packaging third-party software
• Knowledgeable of open source and licensing
