Job Description

Calix has an immediate requirement for the role of Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics which will report directly to the AVP of Engineering Operations, and heavily influence Product lifecycle management and quality decisions for Calix. In addition to a solid understanding of managing a team in a largely remote work environment, the Manager must be prepared to develop key performance indicators (KPI’s) and have a proven track record of continuously improving services through structured service improvement plans. The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics will have experience in leading a team of professionals across geographies toward an established roadmap.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve as the strategic partner and technology leader to enhance Calix Engineering and Release Business Intelligence reporting projects.
  • Define the KPIs, architect and develop data models to track the performance using consistent data definitions, quantify current state, monitor progress, and set appropriate targets.
  • Enhance and maintain existing Dashboards and Reports supporting ongoing weekly and quarterly reporting and analysis for Products.
  • Design, develop, and drive adoption of new Dashboards/reports and automation tools with key stakeholders to streamline workflows and processes and support data-driven insights & decisions.
  • Design and develop and AI/ML driven reporting system.
  • As needed, work with cross-functional teams in the establishment of scalable BI solution to enhance dashboard and reporting capabilities.
  • Assist with source data logic development via PL/SQL in SQL database and perform analysis within SQL management tools to identify potential issues and propose resolutions.
  • Automate and manage the ETL processes with the latest toolsets.
  • Catalog and understand, standard and repeatable insights that are presented during business reviews and work towards automating repeat analysis through Reports and Dashboards.
  • Prepare and review documentation for current processes, model structures, and system update processes for existing and newly developed automation tools and reports.
  • Partner with EDW teams and COE teams to assist with upstream data management, integrity, and governance.
  • Manage, review, and implement road - map for improving current dashboards & systems.
  • Enhance communication channels for data inquiries, issue reporting and resolution for Reports and Dashboards. Monitor and improve ongoing platform utilization and user engagement by driving adoption & usage metrics of Dashboards.

Qualifications:

  • Calix requires all employees based in North America who will work onsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel on behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Calix will consider requests for reasonable accommodations as required under applicable law.
  • 12+ years of Business Intelligence and/or systems experience supporting Engineering teams.
  • Requires BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong working knowledge of PowerBI, Tableau, Thoughtspot, and EDW tools like Snowflake.
  • Strong ability to design storytelling reports with data and visualization tools.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical / critical thinking skills; and ability to prioritize and apply sound judgment.
  • Good business acumen with ability to translate data and technical concepts into requirements and business cases
  • Democratize data and insights as you strive to deliver self-service tools to your partners and enable them to make better, quicker decisions
  • Contribute to product strategy and vision for the Information and Data Services team and build working relationships with partners to understand their data analytics needs and priorities, clarify objectives and clearly communicate plans.
  • Review customer analytic needs and transform them into clearly defined product requirements, features, and enhancements. 
  • Perform regular data querying and analysis for applied data analytic insights, customer engagement, predictions, and recommendation solutions. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Proven ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Deep understanding of distributed and service-oriented architectures; delivered large scale commercial enterprise software systems.
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
