We are looking for a resourceful Lead Applied AI Research Scientist (Data Scientist) to join ourteam in building exciting new intelligent automation capabilities through design and implementation of cutting-edge AI. NLP and machine learning are at the heart of our digital workers, and an ideal candidate would have real-world, hands-on experience in building production-ready predictive models. This role presents an unique opportunity to apply pragmatic machine learning to achieve tangible business outcomes while interacting with multiple stakeholders – including but not limited to Product, Customer Success, Sales, Professional Services and Engineering. You will be

• Leading a team of Applied scientists to deliver core AI capabilities that directly impact the company's top line revenue 
• Instilling tools, processes and best practices to enable your team to package valuable ML models to allow for effortless consumption by other teams
• Conducting interviews to assess cultural and behavioral fit for the team, as well as pitching and selling WorkFusion to get candidates excited about the role 
• Rapidly prototyping, iterating, and designing end-to-end production-friendly AI models
• Collaborating with Product to translate business requirements into ML model specifications
• Working on high impact projects building and scaling cutting edge ML research including transformers, federated learning, differential privacy and active learning 
• Keeping up with relevant applied ML research by attending and contributing to conferences
• Collaborating with Engineering to integrate our latest research models into production systems
• Driving our culture of documenting research, experiments, results, and code through regular contributions, review and mentorship 

Qualifications

• You have at least 5 years of professional R&D experience, with 3+ years developing ML/NLP models, and you understand the life cycle of an AI product 
• The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML/NLP/Computational Linguistics, Math, Physics or the equivalent 
• You have a working knowledge of major deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and Tensorflow 
• You have familiarity with transfer learning using BERT-like pre-trained models, and document processing techniques like OCR using OpenCV, Tesseract, etc. 
• You have experience translating state-of-the-art research into customer-friendly use cases
• You are a great communicator and are able to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience 
• You have a strong technical storytelling ability - going beyond sharing experimental results to be able to draw conclusions, and make recommendations
• You are smart, curious and eager to learn (and have demonstrated these attributes in the past – either in your professional experience or through side projects)
