Job Description

The Data Scientist II proactively uses predictive analytics and innovative machine learning models to create value from data. You will participate in designing, developing and evolving high quality, extensible modeling solutions and interpretation of results using a variety of techniques ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining, alogorithm development, and statistical analysis. You will design and develop inventive solutions to drive innovation and delivery of organizational value. You’ll synthesize large datasets and solve complex problems through the use of advanced machine learning and statistical modeling. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, team environment, collaborating with multiple stakeholders. You will assist management in the communication of insights and the implementation of impactful data science solutions across the organization.

See Your Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analysis, data mining, temporal and pattern analysis, correlation of events, predictive modeling, and pattern recognition.Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation. Create, design, develop, test, calibrate, deploy, and support predictive models to support internal or customer facing products and services.
  • Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver high value products based on business needs; assist in requirements review and grooming
  • Develop models and new algorithms to solve data / business problems using a wide range of analytics techniques, such as statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, optimization, simulation, or closely related techniques
  • Provide solutions on application performance improvement ideas/suggestions and implementation to enhance delivery of analytical solutions.
  • Participates in review meetings to discuss findings, risks & challenges and recommends the solutions.
  • Actively supports colleagues by sharing information about the department, business unit and organization

Knowledge:

  • At least 2-5 years as a professional data scientist, preferably in a growth company
  • Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics and algorithms
  • Professional experience building predictive models through techniques such as machine learning, collaborative filtering, logistic regression, etc.
  • Professional experience building predictive models to support consumer facing products and business process needs
  • Professional experience designing, executing and evaluating statistical tests
  • Understanding of mortgage, real estate or property valuation a plus

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (like tensorflow or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn)
  • Understanding of AWS, AWS SageMaker, or other ML development platforms
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R; and query languages such as SQL
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and meet strict deadlines
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to write code in C (++, #) a plus
  • Proven ability to collaboratively and maturely work on a team
  • Curious with an aptitude to quickly learn

Other Position Parameters:

  • Guide/ Mentor other team members in terms of technical concepts and cooperate with them in meeting project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Conduct analyses, design and create information products using various development tools
  • Learn new software tools and other skills independently and as directed

  • Required:Bachelor’s Degree, Concentration in Math, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics
  • Preferred:Master’s Degree, Concentration in Math, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics
