Job Description

Unlearn was founded in 2017 by a team of world-class machine learning scientists with a vision to eliminate trial and error in medicine using artificial intelligence. Enrollment challenges and timeline delays plague clinical trials. Unlearn has invented a type of randomized controlled trial called a TwinRCT, which generates reliable evidence while enabling the use of smaller control groups than traditional trials. TwinRCTs complete enrollment in less time, are more patient-centric, and provide a regulatory-approved method for using machine learning-based prognostic models trained on historical trial data to improve future clinical trials.

Unlearn has recently raised a Series B of $50 million in venture capital from top tier investors such as Insight Partners, Radical Ventures, 8VC, DCVC, and DCVC Bio. We are headquartered in San Francisco, CA.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Science Officer, the Biostatistics Research Fellow is responsible for advancing Unlearn’s research and development activities in biostatistics. This includes research into novel clinical trial designs and their statistical properties using both computational and theoretical tools. In addition to their own research and development activities, the Biostatistics Research Fellow will also assist in recruiting and mentoring other biostatistics researchers.

Responsibilities

• Develop new biostatistics methods to achieve company objectives
• Collaborate with machine learning researchers to optimize biostatistics use-cases for machine learning model outputs
• Review and provide input to other biostatistics research staff on statistical methods presentations and publications
• Advance awareness within the biostatistical community in both industry and academia as a randomized trial design leader

Requirements

• PhD in Biostatistics or Statistics
• A proven publication track record in peer-reviewed biostatistics and statistics journals
• Strong presentation skills
• Ability to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary environment

Compensation and Benefits

We make extensive use of data to ensure all our offers are fair and competitive. Total annual compensation (base salary and performance bonus) for this role will be between $170,000 to $215,000 and is commensurate with a candidate's experience.
