Job Description

The Flatiron School is seeking a Data Science Curriculum Manager to join our Central Education team. This role is primarily responsible for leading the Data Science Curriculum team and overseeing curriculum development and projects from brainstorming to completion. This role requires 2+ years of people management experience. Please be prepared to share and discuss your people management experience.

Building digital learning products is essential to support our mission of aligning education with reality following the Flatiron Way of teaching. The Data Science Curriculum Manager will coordinate with, lead meetings with, and collaborate with synchronous and asynchronous Delivery teams on the creation, maintenance, and constant updating of our Data Science Program curriculum. The Data Science Curriculum Manager will report directly to the Director of Data Science Education.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Data Science Curriculum Developers with a focus on personal growth and professional development, ensuring frequent updates to ongoing projects using Monday.com
  • Coordinate with the Director of Data Science Education and the Data Science Instructional Coordinator on new Shape Up Project Cycle proposals and implementation
  • Evaluate existing Data Science curriculum, including analyzing student outcomes and working with Flatiron School’s Data Science instructors and coaches to ensure high-quality curriculum and technical accuracy
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap for Data Science curriculum development
  • Participate in Curriculum Council with other discipline Curriculum Managers and Education Directors
  • Lead Data Science curriculum projects from ideation to roll-out including analyzing student assessment results to suggest changes
  • Document and communicate current and new Data Science curriculum, including outlining learning objectives at many different levels and end-of-phase project rubrics
  • Meet weekly or biweekly with Delivery leadership to coordinate instructor onboarding and rollout plans for new curriculum
  • Test and document curriculum processes for auto-grading student work
  • Coordinate and design curriculum for Flatiron School’s Enterprise offerings

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of professional data experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • 1+ years of experience in instructional/curriculum design
  • Great attention for detail
  • Experience using project management tools such as Asana, Trello, or Monday.com to document work and update project statuses
  • Deep knowledge of the content taught in our Data Science program 
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to support program development
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience developing curriculum materials using Jupyter notebooks
  • Experience creating assessments based on core learning outcomes
  • Experience using data science methods in applied business contexts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Already contributes to the technical community - perhaps maintains a technical blog or an open-source project, or speaks at conferences
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, DataBricks, and/or other cloud technologies for data engineering and model deployment tasks
  • Experience writing scripts to automate tasks
  • Experience with unit testing
  • Experience as a Software Developer and/or Data Scientist
  • Experience with Tableau
  • Experience with online and face-to-face content delivery
  • Experience using learning management systems in hybrid educational environment

Expected Compensation:

  • $120K-$140K annually
