Job Description

The Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solution provides a platform for resources from the business operations and IT teams to deliver self-service process automations on an IT supported, secure and resilient infrastructure. Robotics Application Developers have responsibility for developing and delivering automated processes plus mentoring non-accredited developers. Candidates are subjected to RPA training and then typically work closely with accredited RPA consultant(s) or developers during a skilling and mentoring period as part of an agility program delivery phase. This position will also complete and finalize Solution Designs according to Aflac standards.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Accurately analyses and estimates new potential processes, quickly assessing feasibility; analyzes, understands and documents the business processes in detail where required 
• Works on enterprise-wide bot design and development that require the highest level of expertise and knowledge of multiple processing systems and robotics software coding requirements; requires systems and data analysis, design, development, integration, and enhancement activities, as well as related maintenance and more complex production support for all production systems
• Defines and develops the project scope of multiple complex projects with assistance from the project team and serves as the project point of contact when necessary 
• Leads and/or participates in bot-planning sessions with clients, business units, and IT to analyze development requirements, provide design recommendations for complex systems, and recommend methods and assignments
• Provides design recommendations, develops bot and custom integration solutions, including major enhancements and interfaces; writes complex design specifications
• Makes complex modifications to existing bot applications in accordance with high specifications and division standards; reviews effort to ensure compliance to application standards
• Maps current business processes to provide a foundation for defining business activities; uses business process maps to build/code bots; develops accurate project deliverables; applies appropriate analysis to business unit issues to provide the best resolution and satisfy internal and external customers
• Works with business units, Project Management Office, Software Quality Assurance, and IT by opening and maintaining lines of communication to monitor and improve satisfaction; manages business unit expectations of initiatives and projects
• Identify and communicate the technical infrastructure requirements in order to design RPA process solutions in accordance with standard RPA design principles and conventions
• Configure new RPA processes and objects using core workflow principles that are efficient, well structured, maintainable and easy to understand; Create and maintain solution documentation
• Support existing processes and implement change requirements as part of a structured change control process
• Mentor colleagues through the RPA training and accreditation program – providing advice and guidance on best practice and development techniques as needed 
• Problem solve issues that arise in day to day running of RPA processes and providing timely responses and solutions as required Communicate with RPA on software related issues, suggested improvements and participate with other users in the RPA community 
• Work within project planning constraints, communicating any identified project risks and issues to the delivery/project manager accordingly and provide inputs to the change control process
• Support the business units during the UAT and rollout phases
• Completes Solution Design Document
• Performs other duties as required

Education & Experience Required

• Minimum Required Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, programming or a related field 
• Minimum Required Five or more years of programming or related professional work experience
• Minimum Required Experience in dealing with executive level professionals to drive business outcomes
• Minimum Required Knowledge of RPA not a pre-requisite for this role as full training will be provided

Education & Experience Preferred

• Preferred A track record in the successful delivery and support of excel macros, Visual Basic scripts or other configuration/scripting type technology
• Blue Prism Professional Certification (preferred) Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Understanding of workflow based logic and the ability to both understand a business process from a workflow diagram and to conceptualize it as an automated solution
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
• Ability to collaborate with business unit customers, IT, and management to reach a common agreement 
• Proven experience of successfully delivering high quality solutions in high pressure, structured environments using standard project management techniques and disciplines
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical details to a non-technical audience as well as produce clear and concise documentation
