Job Description

The Zhou lab at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and The University of Pennsylvania is looking for a motivated post-doctoral researcher to work on the topic of Single-cell Computational Epigenetics. The lab is based in the new Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine at CHOP. The positions will be inside the laboratory of Wanding Zhou, a new investigator having worked in the field of computational epigenetics, organismal development and informatics for analyzing high-throughput multi-omics data. The planned project aims at developing computational methods to uncover the dynamics of epigenetics and the biology of gene regulation in single cells. The recruit will use a wide-range of big data analytics to tackle human medical applications including liquid-biopsy and cell identity tracing.

When hired, the recruit will work closely with the Dr. Zhou and other faculty members in the center to conduct original high-caliber research. The recruit is also encouraged to initiate and lead collaborative work with other PIs at CHOP and UPenn or as part of genomics data consortia. Salary will be commensurate with qualification and increase with experience.

Expectations

  • develop software to study epigenetics and gene regulation in human.
  • conduct computational analysis of high-throughput epigenetic data (single-cell methylome sequencing, ATAC-seq etc).
  • harmonize and integrate a sizable volume of public data.
  • evaluate existing computational methods
  • author peer-review research papers.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should be proficient in computer programming (e.g., via R, Bash etc) and should have experience in the interpretation and execution of computational analysis of genomics data. He or she should hold or expect at the time of hire, a Ph.D. or D.Sc. degree in a related field (e.g., Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioengineering, etc.). Knowledge of genetics and epigenetics, and single-cell biology is a plus.

Please send your application to Dr. Wanding Zhou at zhouw3@chop.edu. Your application should include a cover letter summarizing your interests, expertise, and research goals and a CV containing prior and ongoing publication and contact information for three references.
