Duties and Responsibilities

The Data Architect will work as a key technical resource for the portfolio of large corporate and departmental projects at First Republic Bank. The Data Architect will have deep knowledge in data management with expertise in designing, domain data modeling, end to end context flow solutions, and will be a visible leader working across organizational boundaries and implementing new technology solutions to enable our PWM business strategy. The primary duty of the Data Architect will be to partner with Business to understand business requirements and then partner with key data resources, technology resources and vendors to formulate critical data requirements and design the appropriate data solutions. The ideal candidate will be able to evaluate a business requirement, perform end-to-end impact assessment, identify and document the data requirements and recommend appropriate data management solutions. The candidate is expected to be a self-starter, requiring minimal oversight, is results-oriented, with a strong sense of teamwork. The role requires exceptional communication skills and an ability to build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved.

What you’ll do as a Data Architect

In addition to these more general cross functional responsibilities, the Data Architect will also be responsible for the following:

  • Lead end-to-end (conception, development, maintenance and evolution) implementation of wealth management technology solutions. Includes working as an effective liaison between the front office, business units, operations and other technology groups to ensure that client needs are addressed while maintaining alignment to the Bank’s goals and strategy.
  • Serves as the primary data architect for all PWM Data Platform initiatives. 
  • Partner with Business to understand business processes and requirements.
  • Partner with key data and technical resources (example, Data Architects, Data Champions, Enterprise Architects, Infrastructure leaders) and vendors to define data strategy, design & develop data frameworks, domain data modelling & document solutions.
  • Perform end to end impact assessment for any technical change and how it may impact upstream and downstream systems and processes.
  • Partner with the Testing Lead to provide guidance in overall test strategy and test execution.
  • Support the Business for User Acceptance Test.
  • Document any technical decision process.
  • Identify any needed reporting, instrumentation, and analytics in support of automation.

Qualifications

You could be a great fit if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related degree preferred
  • 10 + years of experience delivering enterprise solutions to financial services organizations as a hands-on engineer developing complex data architecture
  • Working experience on Data Architecture/Data Modeling Working experience on Data Architecture/Data Modeling (Snowflake, AWS RDS instances, SQL Server preferred)
  • Working experience on Data processing & Automation frameworks
  • Experience with large Data Migration effort, consolidating platforms
  • Experience on developing Architect Blueprints
  • Working experience on Data Virtualization Tools (Denodo preferred)
  • Design expertise for cloud-based data solutions
  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure Architecture
  • Deep understanding on foundational aspects (Security, DevOps & Governance)
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Frameworks
  • CRM Salesforce experience (nice to have)
  • Experience with Cloud Migration Programs preferred
  • Deep understanding and experience with Event driven architecture preferred
  • Deep understanding with APIs (Open Shift Containers, Micro services, Kubernetes) preferred
  • Highly adept user of MS Excel and common data analytics tools required
  • Requires knowledge and proven experience in Agile/SCRUM.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to build relationships at all levels of the enterprise including external vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and strategic thinking under a minimum of supervision.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience with delivering enterprise design patterns and end to end solution for mission critical highly available and scalable application involving vendors, custom development and matrixed IS organization
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, and influence outcomes beyond direct areas of ownership
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate and follow high standards of integrity in business decision-making
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and the ambition to tackle challenging issues
  • Ability to look toward the broadest possible view of an issue/ challenge; can easily pose future scenarios; can think globally about all aspects of the Bank; can discuss multiple considerations of an issue and forecast them into the future; understands how the Bank works, competes, serves clients, and generates shareholder value
