Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Retail Wireless Product Operations Business Intelligence team seeks a Data Scientist to lead the development and implementation of a new suite of models, reporting, and analytics services that support inventory optimization, distribution network planning, supply/demand forecasting, product and pricing analysis. This position plays a critical role in advancing the state of descriptive and predictive analytics, statistical forecasting, mathematical optimization, and econometric modeling, automation, and design of the organization’s first centralized cloud-based data mart.

• Performs advanced quantitative analyses and model development to drive decision-making.
• Hands-on experience building models to solve complex forecasting and optimization problems.
• Advanced knowledge of best-practice model risk management: validation, testing, and control standards, including testing of assumptions, computational accuracy, and documentation of model weaknesses and risks.
• Passion for and ability to design and develop new applications and decision support tools, including working with technology teams to move models/applications from prototype to production.
• Ability to extract, clean, manipulate, and visualize large volumes of data to derive insights.
• Strong professional communication skills, including the ability to explain model design, risks, and outputs, and the ability to collaborate with executive leadership to translate complex analyses into action.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

You would be considered a great fit for this role if you have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics; Master’s degree in Applied Math or Statistics preferred
• At least 3-5 years of full-time experience in a Data Science, Business Intelligence, or Data Analyst role
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to write efficient queries involving multiple tables and subqueries.
• Experience working with Amazon Athena and Snowflake a plus
• Working proficiency in R and/or Python
• Experience with Tableau
• Strong knowledge of statistics and mathematics
• Knowledge of inventory optimization, demand forecasting, distribution planning, and supply chain analytics, a plus
