Data Science and Computer Vision Science are the heart of our products at Orbital Insight. We live at the intersection of all our company’s engineering, product, partnerships, and solution engineering efforts. We deeply understand all geospatial data sources we bring into our GO Platform, including satellite and aerial imagery, and a wide array of geolocation data. We understand our customers’ business questions, pain points, and how our products aim to answer those questions and soothe those pains. Our Model Engineering team builds algorithms and capabilities that expose the valuable information contained within the multitudes of data we ingest and put it into context for our customers. We strive to define, and continually refine, the State-of-the-Art in AI and analytics, and are on our way to building the best department in the geospatial arena.

As a manager in our Model Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to lead and grow a group of world-class Computer Vision Scientists. You will partner with engineers, data scientists, product managers, other business leaders throughout our organization, and our customers to support ongoing product development and innovation here at Orbital Insight. Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, and grow our Computer Vision team, maintaining integrity and high standards for execution
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to facilitate their professional development
  • Lead our team’s efforts to execute against deliverables and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, and solutions engineering to deliver top-quality algorithms and capabilities for our customers
  • Define, and execute against, OKRs for the team that are aligned with our product and R&D roadmapsInfluence and inform our long-term R&D roadmap through thought leadership and a holistic understanding of our company’s vision and product goals

Qualifications

  • BS degree in a STEM field (e.g. statistics, machine learning, computer science, physics, engineering)
  • MS or PhD preferred 5+ years of industry experience in Computer Vision
  • Experience in using Deep Learning for object detection, classification, and segmentation tasks
  • Experience in applying these techniques to overhead imagery (satellite and other aerial imagery) a big plus3+ years experience coding Computer Vision models in Python that live in production systems
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Pytorch/Tensorflow and other tools such as MLFlow/Tensorboard
  • Prior experience working with a team of high-performing computer vision scientists
  • Prior experience with Agile development methodologies and Lean principles in an innovation-focused environment
  • Prior experience leading a technical development team, including coaching ICs, setting goals and expectations
