Senior Data Analyst

Working alongside a team of analysts, you will design and deliver sophisticated analytical solutions in demanding and fast paced commercial environments. With an intuitive grasp of data and analytics, you will be passionate about driving innovative analytical thinking and the benefits of a data driven approach.

Conduct full analytical lifecycle delivery to include requirements, design and development resulting in the implementation of analytical solutions and capabilities that drive insight and benefit.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Act as a data and analytical consultant to help see opportunity, drive understanding and data solutions across the business.
  • Become advocate for using data manipulation and visualisation tools.
  • Champion a culture of analytical curiosity through the development of innovative data driven solutions to business questions.
  • Deliver and present analytical findings and recommendations to business partners and leadership, ensuring key findings are understood.
  • Develop analytical applications and systems that provide automatic solutions to manual processes, improving efficiencies.
  • Develop and prepare reporting solutions providing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive insights.
  • Encourage and lead in the understanding and learning of sophisticated system features and methodologies of currently adopted analytical tools. Upskilling the wider team in broad principals whilst improving abilities in specific subject matter expert areas.
  • Identify and demonstrate potential commercial benefit of analytical solutions, through accurate forecasting, prediction, and trialling.
  • Investigative analysis to determine cause, consequence & scale of data issues, gaps, or anomalies.
  • Keep updated with new technologies and industry developments relating to analytics, data science and data technology.
  • Liaise with the wider Data Team to ensure we have the right data and solutions available to deliver our analytical priorities.
  • Manipulate data within relational databases to clean, transform & enhance data.
  • Provide analytical expertise and support in the delivery of advanced data driven solutions.
  • Provide daily operational support ensuring critical reporting solutions and applications are available.
  • Successfully manage and deliver end to end analytical and development projects.
  • Support and encourage experimentation approaches to technological and analytical challenges.
  • Support the Analytics manager in delivering the teams objectives and strategy and help shape the future direction.
  • Work closely with key partners to fully understand requirements and provide collaborative solutions based on a commercial and analytical understanding.
  • Work cross-functionally with the other analysts in the team to build a thriving analytics environment where knowledge and ideas are shared.

Key Experience

  • Outstanding problem solving, analytical and numerical skills are essential.
  • Expert understanding of analytical solutions and standard processes related to building, testing, deploying, and supporting highly scalable data solutions.
  • The ability to initiate and build strong relationships and demonstrate experience of influencing business partners at all levels.
  • Experience in a variety of reporting and data visualisation techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, storage, systems, and techniques.
  • Expert knowledge and the uses of data-orientated and programming languages (SQL, Python, R).
  • Expert knowledge of developing optimal SQL across Big Data tables and sets.
  • Ability to translate technical data to be easily understood by non-technical consumers.
  • Advanced knowledge of manipulating and redefining data sets and applying analytical methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the business to understand their needs and interpret how they could be fulfilled using the available data.
  • Experience utilising statistical analytical methods (Regression, Classification, etc.)
  • Solid experience in visualising and storytelling with data.
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualisation tools
  • Passion and desire to learn new tools and techniques.
  • Experience working within an Agile delivery framework.
  • Previous experience in performing and maintaining data quality.
