Statisticians at RAND work across all research areas, including health policy, labor and population, education and training, criminal and civil justice, national security, aging, and military manpower. These projects often pose novel challenges in design, sampling, measurement, analysis, modeling, imputation, and computing. Statisticians also have the opportunity to perform research in statistical methods, lead research projects, and provide statistical consulting and education to the RAND research community.
Qualifications
Candidates should have strong theoretical training, a genuine interest in applied statistics, and excellent oral and written communication skills. All research positions at RAND require excellent analytic skills; the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing; the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team; and a strong commitment to RAND's core values of quality and objectivity.
We seek both recent graduates and experienced statisticians with substantial publication records and extensive applied experience. Senior research positions require demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff members, lead and direct multidisciplinary teams, set project standards and monitor progress, handle significant budget responsibilities, and communicate interim and final results to the RAND community and to policymaking audiences.
