POSITION TITLE: Data Scientist
Volvo Group North America LLC

LOCATION OF EMPLOYMENT: 8003 Piedmont Triad Parkway, Greensboro NC 27409

POSITION DUTIES: As part of the global Advanced Analytics team in the Supply Chain Optimization (SCO) organization, participate in the design of the service market supply chain by exploring the analytical methods and tools to further develop service market logistics functionality. The scope of the position covers all analysis methods and information related to Service Market Logistics responsibilities including big data modeling, connectivity information models, mid-level and zero-level planning and integrated supply chain planning with point of sales forecasting.

Specific tasks are listed below:

• Communication and collaboration with Supply Planning team, Demand and Inventory teams to identify improvements through analytics
• Work on simulation model to improve inventory planning of parts with intermittent demand Work on deploying forecast engine on Azure pipeline
• Utilizing coding skills in Python/R and theoretical knowledge of supply chain planning, develop and test new algorithms
• Piloting and Industrialization of Projects and evaluating impact to supply chain
• Explore and apply potential in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Modeling and Optimization
• Develop and improve advanced statistical and analytical methods to be used in SML
• Build a depository of technologies and sample applications which can be applied in Volvo domain
• Act as an ambassador and coach of advanced analytics throughout SML organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: PhD Operations Research, Data Analytics or a related computational data field.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Completed academic coursework in the design and control of supply chain systems. Coding skills in Python and R. Proven understanding of machine learning techniques and application.
