Job Description

What you will be doing

• Manage developers directly and the Development Managers on your Agile Teams
• Get comfortable managing employees who have different technical skills sets and tasks than your own technical background and expertise
• Provide technical and management mentorship to your Functional Leads and developers
• Work with HR to identify and hire the required technical resources for your teams
• Ensure a positive and efficient onboarding experience for all new development hires including co-ops
• Recognize failures as the result of faulty processes and procedures instead of blaming individuals. You identify how processes and procedures can be improved and implement those changes to mitigate risks.
• Facilitate the team's technical platform decisions, providing opportunities for developers across your teams to lead designs and guiding them through the process of engaging all required resources and stakeholders
• Coordinate technical meetings with the appropriate people from across the company
• Coordinate with Product Managers on all team level decisions
• Represent your team technically to distributors and customers
• Manage the developer on-call rotations of your squads and are the escalation point for operational issues
• Drive and maintain a culture of continuous improvement on the foundation of organizational health quantified through actively tracked team metrics (eg. lead time to value, cycle time, velocity, etc)
• Coaching your team of Software Development Managers to do their best work
• Inspiring your entire team to rally around company objectives
• Championing and exemplifying CaseWare core values in your day to day interactions
• Conducting performance reviews that leave your team feeling reinvigorated and inspired

In the first 6 months (think responsibilities):

• Get acquainted with colleagues and the role
• Shadow existing managers' day-to-day operations
• Understand CaseWare’s product portfolio
• Match problem sets to existing and new teams

In the first year (think responsibilities):

• Take full ownership for cross-org initiatives
• Have hired up high functioning teams that are actively executing on deliverables for business objectives
• Set long term goals for your teams and have career paths carved out for all of your direct reports

What you will bring:

• Growth mindset, no one is perfect, but, we’re always learning how to improve
• Previous experience as a high functioning software developer, advanced knowledge in any programming language is acceptable
• Able to understand and explain system architecture diagrams
• Proven track record of designing and implementing team best practices
• Strong understanding of business goals and standards for customer service 
• Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple company initiatives and encourage coworkers to do the same
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Nice-to-have:

• Experience building SDKs
• Experience working at a startup/running a business
• Experience working in a corporate environment
