Job Summary

We are looking for a savvy Sr. Data Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Freewheel, New York. If you’re excited to work with a tightly-knit team of data engineers solving hard problems the right way using cutting-edge data collection, transformation, analysis, and monitoring tools in the cloud, this opportunity is for you. Our data engineering team works with huge viewing datasets from several sources to help the world’s largest programmers, measurement partners, and networks understand media consumption. We build and maintain high-quality data solutions to process terabytes viewing data on the state of the art cloud-native data platform using AWS.

Core Responsibilities

  • As a part of this role, you will 
    • Extensively use a combination of several cutting edge AWS services, 3rd party commercial software, and internally developed software to store, process and deliver near real-time data to a variety of the largest media companies in the world. 
    • Manage, improve and build the next generation of data tools and frameworks, in addition to developing and maintaining data products and infrastructure.
    • Support and troubleshoot data and/or system issues. Collaborate with external teams to identify, troubleshoot, and permanently resolve data quality issues. 
    • Develop in-house tools to automate common tasks. 
    • Work with languages like Python, Scala, Golang, Bash, and SQL. Conduct code and design reviews to ensure the product quality remains high. 
    • Mentor and provide guidance to junior colleagues and new team members
    • Collaborate with the Data Science team, Data Operations team, and Data engineers to translate complex product requirements into working high-quality cloud-native data solutions. 
    • Share learnings with wider engineering teams by doing technical demos! We love to show our work and learn from others. :)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science or similar field of study 
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on work in the field of Software development and Big Data.
  • Ability to write good quality code in Java, Scala, Python or Golang. 
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins is preferred 
  • You can work with the command line.
  • Must be versatile and an inquisitive problem solver. 
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Strong skills in SQL and proven experience working with at least one of the major databases platforms. 
  • Extra points if you have an AWS certification, and have worked previously on S3, EMR, Glue, EC2, ECS, IAM, Cloudformation, Athena, Lambda, and other AWS services.
