Within EFT the Corporate Risk Technology (CRT) group helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Credit Risk Technology team supports a horizontal function within CRT and is responsible for delivering data consistently across Credit Risk. This Lead Big Data Developer (Lead Software Engineer) is responsible for developing big data integration services, transformations and analytic services on the CRT's Hadoop infrastructure. This individual will be a contributor on an agile team consisting of technology leads, designers, developers, analysts and testers. And also be part of the transformation of existing disparate data solutions and capabilities to an integrated, flexible and scalable data platform across Risk and Finance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and build data services that deliver Strategic Enterprise Risk Management data
  • Design high performing data models on big-data architecture as data services.
  • Design and build high performing and scalable data pipeline platform using Hadoop, Apache Spark, MongoDB and object storage architecture.
  • Partner with Enterprise data teams such as Risk Teams and Enterprise Data Environment (Data Lake) and identify the best place to source the data
  • Work with business analysts, development teams and product owners for requirements and business rules.
  • Work with Infrastructure Engineers and System Administrators as appropriate in designing the big-data infrastructure.
  • Support ongoing data management efforts for Development, QA and Production environments
  • Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs.
  • Leverage knowledge of industry trends to build best in class technology to provide competitive advantage.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience in application & data architecture and solution design
  • 4+ years of experience delivering ETL, data warehouse and data analytics capabilities on big-data architecture such as Hadoop
  • 3+ years of experience with Big Data or Hadoop tools such as Spark, Hive, Kafka and Map

Desired Qualifications

  • An industry-standard technology certification
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology
  • Agile experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a quantitative development team about models and integration strategies
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret large datasets
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management or quantitative modeling
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • 5+ years of data modeling experience
  • Experience with design, implementation and governance with Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning Architecture
  • 3+ years of securities industry experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management, in financial services
  • Experience with risk technology solution design
  • 2+ years of cloud computing experience, preferably with GCP

Additional expectations of this role will include:

  • Providing leadership and mentorship to junior team members (onshore and offshore).
  • Understanding, communicating and executing change management and issue management processes.
  • Directing the analysis of highly complex problems and may oversee the work of junior team members in the team and across peer groups.
  • Directing small projects and leading resources as needed.
  • A successful candidate for this position will have a service-oriented mentality and possess a strong sense of ownership of the problems/requests assigned.
