Job Description

Within Data Science, the Marketplace Fulfilment Platform (MFP) DS team builds data science products to optimize delivery efficiency and power post order delivery experience for both customers and delivery partners. We build and own low-latency, high-throughput models powering time predictions, routing and dispatch optimization across different business lines of Swiggy.

We also work on models for spatio-temporal community detection, graph learning and Swiggy Simulation platform that span econometric, statistical, machine learning and deep-learning and optimization approaches.

We own or co-own several initiatives with a direct line of sight to customer and business impact. The technical approach that we use to deliver results is less important than the impact we have on the customer and business.

What you will be doing

• As a Senior Staff Data Scientist, you will be a thought leader and technical expert who drives critical data science projects that move the needle on company objectives. 
• Your scope would be company-wide and you would easily move across problem spaces where your skills would have the most customer and business impact. 
• You would forge close relationships with engineering and product management leaders and partner with them to deliver impact. 
• You would help define the vision and strategy for an MFP data science organization that has a substantial impact on customers, partners and the Swiggy platform.
• You would provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to all team members. 
• You would be hands on building state of the art solutions that enable Swiggy to deliver on our promises with high efficiency and best experience.
• You would be solving non-trivial, open-ended, high-impact problems impacting delivery efficiency and experience across Swiggy business lines.
• You would be contributing to the brand of Swiggy by publishing blogs, technical papers and presentations at conferences.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in a quantitative field 
• 10+ years of industry experience in a data science related role
• Expertise solving complex and highly impactful quantitative business problems at scale 
• Strong depth and breadth in optimization, machine learning, deep learning and statistics
• Proficiency with Python, Spark, SQL, Scala,Tensorflow and familiarity with big data tools
• Strong spoken and written communication skills, able to explain complex ideas in a simple, intuitive manner, write/maintain good technical documentation
• Broad industry and/or academic recognition of work as evidenced by blog posts, open source contributions, academic publications, and conference presentations
• Domain experience in logistics, mobility, maps and hyperlocal space would be a huge plus
