Job Description

Join us as we pursue our vision to eliminate preventable sickness and transform kidney care using AI and data!

At pulseData, we provide value-based healthcare organizations and their care teams a patented data intelligence platform which helps deliver better care at less cost. As a company, we leverage data science and machine learning for Hospitals and Healthcare companies, to identify patients at risk of costly and avoidable medical outcomes.

pulseData is looking to bring on a Director of Quantitative Analytics!

Prior healthcare data experience is NOT necessary. Interests and a desire to understand and solve problems in Healthcare is absolutely mandatory. Rules are made to be optimized and re-drafted.

Ideal professionals for this role will bring at least 3 years (3, 5, 10+ years) of working experience at an Investment Bank, Hedge Fund, or Financial institution that has researched, developed and executed trading/investment models aiming for profitability.

One can call it systematic strategies, algorithmic trading, and/or quantitative investments. But you know deep down inside, it is all a popularity contest with a huge infrastructure budget and evaporating sharpe ratios.

For this role, you have to have done actual backtesting, data manipulation, ML/AI or constrained optimization as a day-to-day job! Unfortunately, given that the PC was invented in the 80s or even debatable in the 70s, we are NOT looking for people who wants to do data science, but targeting people who have done too much data science already. (You know who you are!)

Our underlying thesis:

Instead of using the world’s best talent to help wealthy people become incrementally even wealthier. Let’s solve a problem that is literally a matter of life and death, let’s find ways to truly improve healthcare. Human beings and the entire world would be better off. Focus on what is truly significant! Instead of making MD/Partner in your firm, impact lives and allocate resources efficiently in healthcare.

Health is real! Healthcare is…. critical.

What we want:

A problem solver, hard worker, team player and a nice enough person.

The Ideal candidate is probably somebody who graduated in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a technical major not mentioned here, spent greater than 3 years analyzing time series, structured and unstructured dataset. Knows how to accomplish goals while being limited in time, life and competing interests.

Hard requirements for this role:

Python, Data Ninja skills, Backtesting.

Create actionable insights from signals and noise.

Attention to detail & a willingness to defend results.

You should be ready to add tremendous value to difficult open-ended problems and join an engaged and dedicated team. Bring all your education, experience and intuition to bear. We have been doing this together for 6 plus years now (and more than a century combined when summing over the entire team.) and can steer you away from most of the pitfalls. The platform is built from the ground up to enable such results being shared and models being collaborated.

All we need is YOU. Not AI. But Actual Intelligence! Life is recursive. The problem is significant. Your contribution matters. Teamwork is a must! Let’s close the loop with your ~100% involvement.

Compensation is competitive and rewarding. Remoteness is encouraged and we do have clusters (human, not GCP k8s) in NYC, Boston and both ends of California. We are looking for smart enough people to solve important enough problems all while having just enough fun to not get into serious trouble. We have company retreats and off-sites at least 3 times a year all over the US. (Travel restrictions apply.)

In addition to Analytics, we are also looking for software engineers, product managers and data engineers.

Let’s have some fun!

More Benefits:

A competitive salary, bonus, and equity package.

A remote working environment & unlimited PTO.

Top-Tier benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance.

Gym discounts, a 401k, and a new laptop + equipment.

Fun offsite adventures throughout the US each year.

Tons of room for growth and the ability to learn new things.
